Almost 90% of metals are recycled compared to less than 10% of plastics - interesting TED talk on one man’s efforts to change that.

A great way to combine wine and recycling!
It’s wine o’clock (somewhere) …
Time to share a wine-related repurposing find: Corks wired together to make a durable doormat — made by Sarah Racha (spotted in her Etsy shop).
Sarah says:
This doormat measures 29 x 20 1/2 inches and is made up of 284 corks. Each cork has had two holes drilled into it and they are laced together tightly with steel wire.
I inserted metal grommets into the corks along the end of each row so the wire can not cut into the cork. The corks come from all over the world. I collect wine corks whenever I go wine tasting. I also ask at restaurants if they have any corks they were going to throw away that I could have. This could be used indoors or out. I have one of these doormats on my front porch and it has weathered one winter so far with no signs of deterioration. It also could be hung on a wall and used as a large bulletin board.

Shipping palette + old soda bottles = vertical herb garden.
The project of using a shipping palette to make an herb garden is one that I originally saw on Instructables.
The concept is that you water the top plant and it drains through to the plant below that and then to the plant below that.
